Suggestions:

  • CB Radios - Many clubs use CB radios to communicate with each other during runs. Our club uses CB Channel 35 for runs unless otherwise specified. We recommend having a CB with you for this event. Our group uses the highly popular Cobra C75WXST CB and Little Wil antenna combination. All of the controls are in the handset and it's a very small install into your car, which can be neatly hidden in the trunk or behind the passenger seat. You can even buy extra junction boxes for other vehichles and transfer your handset from one car to another without buying a whole new unit. CB's are great to have for emergencies but they are equally great fun for points of intrest as well as banter which can be highly entertaining. Valco Electronics is where the Lowcountry members buy their CB setup from, and we find them to be the least expensive out there. You can click here and take a look at their prices for the Cobra - Cobra at Valco Electronics and Little Wil Antenna at Valco Electronics.
  • Mosquito Repellant - BRING IT! They don't call the Mosquito the State Bird here for nothing!
  • Lightweight jackets - Even though our temperatures here in Charleston can average 80 during the day, night time temperatures can drop to 67 degrees or lower. It's not uncommon in May to find your self sweating during the day and needing a jacket at night, so be prepared.
